The Process
How SME Forge Works
Four steps from application to published content — with a rigorous youth-safety review at every stage.

Apply
Submit your credentials, area of expertise, and a short sample piece. Applications are reviewed by our editorial team within 5 business days. No payment required to apply.

Brief
Approved SMEs receive a detailed content brief for their assigned module — learning objectives, target audience (ages 10–24), Sticky Words list, and the assessment questions they need to teach toward.
03
Review
Every submission goes through six review rounds: factual accuracy, youth appropriateness, accessibility, audio production quality, assessment alignment, and legal sign-off. Expect 2–3 revision cycles.

Publish
Approved content is published with your name and credentials on the module card. You receive your SME credit in full, your profile goes live on the Forge, and ElevenLabs translates the content into 20+ languages.

MSU Editorial Standards — Every submission is reviewed against these criteria
✓ Do
✅Write for a 14-year-old with zero prior knowledge — then layer in the depth
✅Use real examples from your career — specific, named, grounded in fact
✅Structure around the 5 Sticky Words provided in your brief
✅Include at least one "what could go wrong" scenario with a practical fix
✅Write in first person where your experience is the source of authority
✅End every chapter with a clear "what you now know" summary statement
✅Flag any content that may need legal review (contracts, liability, FIA rules)
✗ Don't
❌Name specific drivers, teams, or individuals in a negative context
❌Include sponsorship, branding, or promotion of your own services
❌Use jargon without defining it — every technical term needs a plain-language anchor
❌Include any content that could be interpreted as encouraging dangerous behaviour
❌Reproduce copyrighted material — rule books, technical regulations, or published articles
❌Write more than 8 minutes of audio per chapter — keep it tight and earbud-friendly
❌Submit AI-generated content — this will result in immediate rejection and SME status review
